Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne was one of the most recognisable and influential figures in rock music. Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in Birmingham, England, he became famous as the lead singer of Black Sabbath and helped shape the sound of heavy metal. With his powerful voice, dark stage image and unforgettable personality, he earned the nickname “Prince of Darkness.”

Black Sabbath achieved major success in the 1970s with classic albums such as Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Master of Reality. After leaving the band in 1979, Osbourne built an equally successful solo career. His albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman became important records in heavy metal, featuring guitarist Randy Rhoads.

Beyond music, Ozzy became a television personality through The Osbournes, giving fans a more personal and often humorous look at his family life. He also helped popularise heavy metal through the Ozzfest music festival.
